Hi everybody, are you watching Rio 2016? Italy is doing well! But today I want to gives a tribute to a great champion.
Yesterday Michael Phelps has ended this Olympic games and his career, winning a last gold medal.
His story is incredible. He’s the greatest swimmer of all times, but also the greatest athlete of all times. The only one that won 8 gold medals in the same Olympic games. Many world records culled. 23/28 gold medals in the Olympic games. Never someone as him.
6 gold and 2 silver in 2004, 8 gold in 2008, 4 gold and 2 silver in 2012.
After London 2012, the retirement, and in that manifestation, he receives a plate as the greatest swimmer of all times.
Then in 2014 he starts again to swim with the intention to partecipate to Kazan 2015, but he is banned for six months for driving under the influence. At US championship in San Antonio, he wins 3 race with the best time of the year.
He has a son with his partner. He partecipate to Rio 2016 as standard-bearer and he wins 5 gold medals in 5 races, particularly, winning in 200 butterfly, he became the first swimmer to reach a gold medal to 12 years from the first win. Also, in the only race that he not win, and he reach the silver medal, the 100 butterfly, he’s beaten from singaporean Joseph Schooling, his fan that had done a photo with “the shark of Baltimora” in 2008, a sort of handover, a beautiful story.
After his first gold medal, he’s moved by anthem and he ran to his partner and his son Boomer, wonderful.
Today, as he had already said, he have confirmed his definitive retirement.
As swimmer and sport lover, I want to thank him for what he have done in these years. In my early age, I had difficulties with butterfly and if I managed to improve, I owe it to him…I spent hours watching and watching again his races, to learn the secrets of the best.
All of us, must thank him for what he have done for swimming and sport in these years. And we could say to ours son that we were there, that we have seen a great champion, the greatest swimmer of all times.
Thank you for all Michael!!!
